This summer, we're meeting young talent where greatness begins — middle school. The 2026 Duffy's Hope Summer Basketball League is opening its courts to the next generation of New Castle County hoopers, mentors-in-training, and student-athletes ready to take their game (and their future) to the next level.
WHY MIDDLE SCHOOL. WHY NOW.
For 27 years, Duffy's Hope has stood with Wilmington's young people during the moments that matter most. This year, we're shifting our summer league focus to middle school athletes across New Castle County — and it's intentional.
Middle school is the make-or-break stretch. It's when habits form, identities take shape, and young people start deciding who they want to become. It's also the age when the right coach, the right teammate, or the right adult in the bleachers can change a life.
By centering 2026 on middle schoolers, we're investing earlier — building skill, character, and confidence before high school pressures hit. This is prevention in motion. This is what Duffy's Hope was built for.
